Andrew Davidson was the son of James Davison of Aikinhamper and Ardonakrone and his wife Isabel Scot. His father had served Mary Queen of Scots and this may have motivated Andrew to emigrate. He arrived in Poland in 1606 at the age of 15 and settled in Zamosc, where he served an apprenticeship for 6 years, was a journeyman for 3, before he became a trader. He was a grain transporter engaged in the Vistula basin. In 1625 he married Anna Dukeli, but she died the next year. They had a son, John/Jan. In 1631 Andrew remarried, to Anna Iwaszkiewicz and they had 7 children, amongst them Isabel [SSNE 6500], Elizabeth [SSNE 6501], Andrew [SSNE 6499] and Daniel [SSNE 967]. Andrew died in 1660. He is probably the same as the Andrew Davidson who was amongst the Scots and English in Zamosc who subscribed to the subsidy for King Charles II in 1651. In total they paid 8053/2 1/2 florins.A.
