Text source

On 24 March 1647, Andersz Johnszon and Anders Hanndsen of Christiania requested permission to give back ammunition to the Scotsman Robert Klerck [SSNE 5420] of Montrose which they had received from him during the previous war with Sweden for use against the enemy. Johnszon had therefore been in Norway since c.1643. This is probably the same Andrew Johnstoun who in March 1646 corresponded with Sir George Hamilton of Blackburne, informing Hamilton that he was in Glasgow and was heading for Norway with deals and tar. He included money with his letter: 100 cross dollars and 100 pieces of eight. See also [SSNE 6872]
