Thomas Hammond junior was the son of an Englishman of the same name, Thomas Hammond [SSNE 5398], and Ekisabeth Henrichsdatter Sommershell. Thomas inherited his father's farm called 'Thomas Hamond', farm no. 137 in Trondheim, and on 26 July 1692 he merged it with a neighbouring property. On 12 April 1690 there was a dispute over the estate of Thomas Hammond senior in Trondheim between his son, Thomas Hammond junior, Morten Angell and Johan Molman agianst the Police commissioner, Peder Paulsen. The inheritors could not agree with Paulsed over the amount of his share. They had a similar dispute with Christian Rasbeck, bailiff of Nordmore. Thomas had brothers called Edward and Thomas. The magistrates of the city were asked to appoint two commissioners to settle the dispute both in August 1695 and September 1696 between Paulsen and Johan Hammond. On 11 November 1699 Mads Tybring was named as the commissioner in the dispute between Paulsen and Thomas HammondR.
