William Hunter worked as a factor for Sir William Davidson of Curriehill (f.1640-1683), Baronet and Privy Councillor. The location was Mostadmark in Norway. On 17 December 1681, the king ordered his regional governor in Overberg to help William Hunter in his case against Davidson and two commissioners were also appointed to arbitrate in the case. It is not known what the dispute was about, or the outcome. However, on 9 June 1683, Anders Laursen handed Trondheim farm no 80 onto Hunter, his step-daughter's husband. She was called Marta Olsdatter Blix. In the source for this information (Henry Berg's book), it is observed that Hunter was a Swedish subject suggesting a relationship with the Gothenburg smith William Hunter [SSNE 4835].
