Sander Sanderson Gordon was the son of Alexander Gordon who came from Brusst or Banff in Scotland and moved to Bergen in Norway c.1630. Alexander senior was made a burgess cooper on 16 February 1631. He married Elizabeth Vernton, possibly a daughter of Gilbert Wentoun, and with her had three children, Gilbert, Alexander and Lisbeth. Alexander junior married Lenke Gurtsdatter Farman who was buried with kind help from the community in April 1746. Alexander was created a burgess on 21 December 1683 or 1693 and was buried on 8 August 1732. Together they had two children, Gurd/Giert and Elizabeth. Giert moved to Amsterdam and died there in 1753. Elizabeth died the same year unmarried.
