Nicholas Ross known as in ‘Dalhome’, son of Alexander Ross of Invercharron (in Kincardine parish, Sutherland). He was a captain in the Danish-Norwegian army in 1627. In 1633, Nicholas was in the regiment of Colonel John Monro of Obsdale [SSNE 178]. After Obsdale’s death in March 1633, the regiment was reduced at Heidelberg to two companies, one of which was led by Captain Nicholas Ross. The two companies were marched by Colonel Donald Mackay [SSNE 93] to Donauwörth where they were joined to Mackay’s regiment in July 1633.
