William Leermouth was born in Edinburgh and moved to Bergen where he became a burgess on 8 August 1672. He married Karen Robbertsdatter, from an Orkney family, who died on 26 August 1722. She was a sister of David Robertson whom she lived with in Efuert Robbertson's house after July 1681 suggesting that William was dead. The couple had several children including Regine, Michael and Cathriana. Michael was baptised on 1 July 1670 and died 26 October 1717. He was made a burgess skipper of Bergen on 13 August 1705. He married Rachael Cortsdatter and they had numerous children including Willum Cort, Peder, Michael and Jan Michelsen Leermouth and the girls, Marchie, Cathriana-Maria and Cathriana Michelsdatter.
