William Leermouth was born in Edinburgh and moved to Bergen where he became a burgess on 8 August 1672. He married Karen Robbertsdatter, from an Orkney family, who died on 26 August 1722. She was a sister of David Robertson whom she lived with in Efuert Robbertson's house after July 1681 suggesting that William was dead. The couple had several children including Regine, Michael and Cathriana. Regine married the skipper burgess, Erich Ottensen who became a burgess in November 1702 and who was buried in 1736. They had two children Otte Ericsen, born 27 October 1700, and Margarethe Ericsdatter baptised on 27 February 1703. Interestingly, Otte married into the Scottish-Norwegian Dischingtoun family when he wed Emmicke Jansdatter DischingtonBergen Statsarkiv, Sollied Archive. Leermouth section; N.
