In 1600 William Henderson, a merchant from Edinburgh, son of the late James Henderson and Hielos Brun, became a citizen of Cracow after taking the oath and paying 16 Hungarian florins. Andrew Leber, the assessor of Cracow, and William Forbes (SSNE 5104), trader of Cracow, both testified that Henderson was legitimate, but they also promised to ensure that a birthbrieve would be provided within a year and a day, subject to a penalty of 100 Hungarian gold pieces and the loss of civic rightsA.F.
