Robert Kinnimond was the son of the Scottish burgess Hans Kinnemond [SSNE 1630] and Barbro Nyman. He was born in Stockholm in 1647 and studied at Uppsala in 1659, Åbo in 1660-2 and Uppsala again in 1663. He gained a degree in philosophy in 1670. Robert became a tutor to the young Frederik Stenbock, Count of Bogesund, son of Swedish military and government official Count Erik Stenbock, in 1671. By 1674 Kinnemond was a court gentleman to Count Bengt Gabrielsson Oxenstierna on his embassy to Vienna. Robert also visited Nuremberg where he left his signature and a quote in French in a student named Hans Eberhard Krafft von Dellmensingen's autograph album.
In 1678 he was a noterie in Kammarkollegium. In 1683 he was a secretary in the 'berg' college and an assessor there in 1690. Robert Kinnemond finally became a 'berg' councillor in 1713 and died in 1720. He married twice; First to the noblewoman Cathrina Sofia Eldstjerna (1661-1689) in St Nicolai (Storkyrkan) church in Stockholm in 1679. He buried and had a service for her in Klara Kyrka on 10 July and 9 October 1689. He then wed to Anna Christina Berentz/Berentsdotter (died 1723) and had children with her, some of whom died young and were buried in Klara. He was naturalised as a Swede and ennobled 07/12/1680 under number 971. Robert had a brother called John [SSNE 793].
