Andrew Hunter was a minister at Newburn in Fife but was forced into exile for becoming a chaplain to the rebel Francis Stewart, fifth Earl of Bothwell. Once in Holland, he became chaplain to the Scottish brigade between 1597-1630. His initial payment was for 30 guilders. On his death the Scottish Colonels William Brog [SSNE 7842], David (erroneously Daniel) Balfour [SSNE 8033] and George Couttis signed a letter declaring no objection to Hunters' widow receiving 100 extra guilders from the Council of State.
