Text source
In November 1702, the VOC noted that Captain John Erskine led a small detachment of 20 European and 10 indigenous soldiers to help quell a disturbace on the westcoast of Java. These were to support Jordan Teding who had replaced the recently deceased Anthony Ducam (died 25 May 1702). Later another 55 soldiers joined Erskine. Erskine was recalled due to a dispute with Teding. In 1706, Captain Cornelis Visser was reported to have been helping Erskine who had become ill. He died and was replaced by Visser in November.
