Johan Adolf Young Leijonjancker was the son of Daniel Young [SSNE 4206] and Margareta Granatenfelt (his father was ennobled to Leijonjancker in Sweden). Johan was baptised on 22 June 1673. Thereafter he became a 'gefreiter' corporal and later sergeant in the Churfurst of Brandenburg's regiment. Serving as an NCO musketeer, Young served in the Brandenberg regiment in England and Ireland. While there he campaigned at Drogheda, Cork, Kinsail and Limmerick before moving on to Flanders with Sternkerck. Eventually, in 1701 he joined the Kalmar regiment as a sergeant. In total, Leijonjancker served 12 years as an NCO and Adjutant. His campaign history was written down in 1702 in a letter penned by one Gustaf Ranck in Crackow, Poland on 28 August 1702 to Karl XII. In this letter, Ranck pressed for leijonancker's promotion which was subsequently granted. He became an ensign on 20 March 1703. The following year he was promoted again to lieutenant and advanced to the rank of captain by 1708. He died unmarried the following year - possibly at Poltava.
