BARKER, FRANCIS [SSNE 4680]
Text source
Francis Barker was noted amongst the burgesses of Gothenburg in 1639, where his occupation was given as furrier. In addition, two undated letters survive from Francis Barker in Swedish to the Swedish Court. He appears to have undertaken trade specifically to Amsterdam in 1641. Although Dalhede lists them as two separate men, this is probably the same man who exported tar to Leith in 1649, on a ship with goods belonging to Alexander Young [SSNE 7164], James Merser [SSNE 4839] and John Maclean [SSNE 1631]. He also traded with Hull (3 times), Copenhagen, King's Lynn, and Dumbarton in 1649. There is probably some relation between him and Thomas [SSNE 7214] and George [SSNE 7215].
