In addition to his other well recorded biography, Robert Sutton Lord Lexington served as an envoy to a variety of places after 1689. That year saw him as envoy to and for Brandenburg Prussia on behalf of William of Orange. In the early 1690s he also served in Denmark, receiving letters from William Blathwayt regarding English and German relations dated 6 and 9 September 1693. He was also an envoy dealing with Sweden in 1697Historical Manuscripts Commission 24: Rutland I-IV; L. Bittner and L.
