Text source
Thomas Fotherby served as secretary to Sir Gabriel de Sylvius, envoy to Denmark, between 1684-8. In some 1686 sources he is called 'Ambassador Fotherby', which may have been a temproary designation or a hitherto unrecognised promotion. Probably the same as the Thomas Fotherby listed in Hirsch and Hirsch as the English 'commisar' for the Danish troops in Ireland in 1689.Danish Rigsarkiv, TKUA, England, AII. Patrick Leyel 1683-1689.
