James Vernon was the son of James Vernon, Secretary of State, and was an envoy in Denmark between 1702-6. He travelled there on the ship 'Baltic Merchant' after April and his father requested a Royal Naval escort for him. He received £5 a day as expenses. Letters, dated between January 1702 to June 1704 between him and William Greg with others to Lord Oxford dated 1704-14.
