James/Jakob Kinnaird was an officer in Swedish naval service. On 19 December 1670 he was "konstapelsmatt", but was listed as a full constable on 7 September 1672. His promotions continued and he was sub-lieutenant on 13 April 1674. He was "over" lieutenant on 4 April 1676. He took part in the battle at Bornholm 25-26/ May 1676 and Oland 1 June 1676. He was killed in the ship's fire the same day. There were at least two Gothenburg based Kinnaird families (confer [SSNE 1124] and [SSNE 6655]) and he was presumably related to at least one of themSwedish Krigsarkiv, Meritforteckningar (Flottan); Biografiska Anteckningar om Officerare vid Orlogsflottan 1600-1699, p.224.
