Peter Young was the son of Arvid Young. He was born in 1664 in Boras. He was a student in Uppsala in 1675. In 1689 he joined Vastgotadal regiment as a volunteer. He was a musterroll scribe in 1694. He was a private in 'femmanings' infantry regiment in 1703. The following year he was a lieutenant. By 1709 he was a regimental quartermaster. In 1710 he was a captain in a dragoon regiment. The next year he was chief adjutant in Finland. In 1716 he was lieutenant colonel of the Karelia cavalry regiment. That year he was also ennobled and he was introduced in 1719. In 1723 he was a major in the Nyland and Tavastehus dragoons. In 1739 he was a lieutenant colonel. He departed from service in 1741 but still held the title of colonel in 1744. He died in 1757. He was twice married and had three sons, and two daughters.
