Text source
Samuel Thomson was the son of Thomas Thomason and Catherine Murray. He served first as captain in Konrad Techelborg's Sodermanland, Narke and Varmland regiment in 1622. He was apointed colonel quartermaster with Alexander Leslie's Sodermanlanm, Narke and Varmland regiment in 1623. There he became a major in 1626 and a lieutenant captain in 1629 when the regiment was taken over by John Kinnemond. He served in his father's company in 1633 and is said in some sources to have died in 1634/1635 (Nordensvan). However a man of the same name appears on the muster-rolls long after, reaching the rank of [lt?] colonel.
