James Thomson was a son of Thomas Thomson [SSNE 1648] and Catherine Murray. He served in the Swedish army from 1633 in his father's company. He cashiered himself sometime, probably in September, 1638, leaving with the rank of captain. Jacob Thomson probably fought at Wittstock in October 1636.
