RUTHVEN, WILLIAM [SSNE 3416]
Text source
William Ruthven served as an ensign with Alexander Hamilton's [SSNE 380] infantry regiment, then with John Hamilton's [SSNE 2595]. He was later an ensign in David Drummond's [SSNE 2396]Kalmar regiment by 1627 and in Patrick Ruthven's [SSNE 3413] Kalmar regiment in 1628. This man is probably the same as ensign William Ruthven who served in John Hamilton's regiment in 1630-32. This regiment transferred to the command of Ludowick Leslie [SSNE 396] and took part in the battle of Lutzen.Swedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, 1627/12; 1628/4; 1629/10,12,13,15,17; 1630/23,24,26-29; 1630/30-33; 1632/31; F.
