Text source
James Ruthven was a reformed captain in Alexander Leslie's [SSNE 1] recruited regiment in 1631. He joined John Ruthven's [SSNE 191] regiment in 1631 where he was confirmed in his rank the following year. Probably the same man as lieutenant captain James Ruthven listed in Alexander Leslie's regiment in 1631 and then in John Ruthven's regiment in 1631. Possibly the Major Ruthven noted by Monro as being slain at Nordlingen in 1634R.
