Lachlan Ross was first a lieutenant, then a captain in Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93](which then became Robert Monro's [SSNE 94]) infantry of the Swedish army in 1632. He was then a captain in John Skytte's [SSNE 6280] infantry in 1635
