Johan Hansson Ramsay was the son of John/Hans Ramsay [SSNE 1636]. He started service as a corporal. He then became a lieutenant in the Finnish cavalry in 1633 and transferred to Torsten Stålhanske's cavalry regiment in 1634-6 which places him at the battle of Wittstock. In 1643 he held the rank of captain in a company of Finnish soldiers, probably the Åbo and Björnoborg regiment. He was married into the Swedish nobility. He is noted for attending the Riksdag in 1642.
