John Murray served as an ensign in the Sjaelland infantry regiment in 1681 and became a captain in 1692. Murray later served in British-Dutch service in the Low Countries 1692, died at Sluys (Brabant) 1702. He left a son, Alexander. A record exists of Murray as a captain on 15/7/1696 making a bill of exchange of 50 rixdollars in favour of Henrich Ehm to pay by Johan Martin Ployart at Hamburg.J.C.W. Hirsch and K.
