Text source
Captain William Ogilvie served in Kristoffer Assarsson Mannerskold's regiment from Finland. There was another William Ogilvie [SSNE 3223] in service much later. In a letter dated 28 June 1639 from Hamburg, Captain William Ogilvie signed a testmonial with eight other officers that arms bought by Sir Thomas Roe were serviceable and fit for service by Charles I. This was a group of officers who had all newly left Swedish service and the two Ogilvies are possibly the same man.Swedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, 1624/5; PRO SP 81/47, f.107, 28 June 1639, 'Certificate of General King upon arms sent to England'.
