Text source
There were two ensign Robert Muschamps indexed in the index of officers in Swedish service, the first served in Thomas Muschamp's regiment in 1627-9, the second in James Spens' regiment in 1630. This is probably the same man as reformed captain Robert Muschamp who was in George Fleetwood's regiment in 1633. Robert was brother of Colonel Henry Muschamp [SSNE 3163] and both men died on 6 September 1634 at the Swedish defeat at Nordlingen. There were many individuals by the name of Muschamp in Scottish regiments or elsewhere in Sweden, although those for whom we can establish nationality are usually English born like Thomas Muschamp [SSNE 3168], or of mixed Scots-English heritage like his daughters Isabella [SSNE 6329] and Margaretha [SSNE 6327].
