David Cristoffer Montgomery was the son of Major General Jacob David Montgomery. Both his father and Grandfather served in the Swedish army. He served as a corporal in Gunter von Bunau's combined Swedish cavalry regiment in 1672-4. In 1675 he was a cornett. The folowing year he was promoted to lieutenant in Jurgen Mellin's combined Swedish cavalry regiment. In 1678 he became a Captain of Horse and in 1684 he joined southern Skane's cavalry regiment at the same rank. Montgomery held the rank of major in Ostgota cavalry regiment by 1685. He died in 1704
