Alexander Hayock was the son of David Hayock of Dundee and his wife Agnes Couper (possibly from Cupar Angus). A will from 1637 survives, naming the couple: 28.2.1637. Hayok David 28/02/1637 tailor, burgess of Dundee, and Agnes Couper his spouse testament testamentar & inventory Brechin Commissary Court CC3/3/5

Alexander Hayock appeared in Stockholm in the 1640, his daughter Ester being born there in 1648. He moved from Stockholm and acted as mayor in Jönköping in the 1680's.

Alexander Hayock married Anna Cathrina Stromberg (nr. 365) and they had several children: David Haijock, dead in 1700, a naval captain; Agneta Haijock, later married to Lars Jonsson Barckman; Anna Haijock[SSNE 101], who married James Ogilvie[SSNE 3214], and died in 1709; Catarina Haijock, [SSNE 6424] born 1648, married on 10 January 1673 to Johan Schmidt later ennobled as Schmiedeberg; Ester Haijock, [SSNE 6240] born on 12 February 1654,1654, married Thomas Cunningham [SSNE 1620](born in Scotland) on 30 March 1680, a Stockholm burgess; Peter Haijock, born 1658, studied at Uppsala in 1669, joined the infantry and died at the battle of Lund in 1676; Regina Haijock, born around 1681, married to Johan Gunnarsson Hadelin, and died in 1729; and Alexander Haijock, who died in 1739. Some sources say Alexander had a brother named William Haijock [SSNE 4154].

Alexander Hayock died on December 4 1681 and was buried on the 18th that year. In the burial records he was listed as town mayor and buried alongside his son-in-law Lt Col James Ogilvie.
