Andrew Leslie began as the Regimental Scribe in James Ramsay's [SSNE 3315] Regiment in 1628. By the following year he is noted as an ensign in the same regiment. He transferred to Robert Leslie's [SSNE 2932]recruited regiment in 1630 where he became captain in 1631
