Robert Petre (1681-1725) matriculated in Uppsala at the start of the 18th century. He was born in Vastmanland in Sweden of Scottish parentage. He served as an ensign in the Halsinge regiment in 1706 and was wounded at poltava in 1709. Eventually Petre was taken prisoner at Perovolchina and was released in 1722. He thereafter had the rank of colonel and kept a diary.
