Ensign John Edington served in the regiment of John Hamilton in 1632. This regiment was taken over by Ludovick Leslie [SSNE 396] and served at the battle of Lutzen. He is possibly the same as lieutenant colonel Edingtoune who is listed as commissioned to undertake fortification works at BĂ„hus under Karl X. He lost his arm to a cannon shot while rowing across to the island and later died of his wounds. Letters of his exist in Riksarkivet.Stockholm Krigsarkivet, Muster Roll, 1632/30; L.W. Munthe, Kungl Fortificationens Historia, (Stockholm, 1919), vol.6:2, p.274.
