Christian Reisen was a Norwegian Goldsmith who came from Trondheim in Norway. In 1664 he moved to Aberdeen where he warked for a Goldsmith called Melvin. He remained in Aberdeen for about two years before moving south to London. There he worked as a successful jeweller but ran into trouble with the authorities when he was suspected of engraving dies for coins. He was arrested and jailed, but later released without charge.
