Peter Forbes was a grandson of Forbes of Thainstone and Sofia von Langivin. His parents were Colonel John Forbes and Catherine Laurelius. After studying in Uppsala in 1645, he became a captain in the Uppland's regiment. He was a major by 1667 and eventually made commendant of Nas skans around 1675. He lived until 1712.
