Olof Crafoord was the grandson of James Crafoord [SSNE 2090] and son of Joran Crafoord [SSNE 2088]. He was born in 1652 in Stockholm and in 1676 he was a 'forare' with the Uppland regiment. His father Joran passed his family home of Ekno near Kungsor in Vastmanland on numerous occassions. During such a visit in 1651, Joran not only succeeded in making his wife pregnant, but also two other women, and all three within the space of three months. One of these illegitimate children died young, while the other was Olof Crafoord (1652-1710). He served as an officer in the artillery but was court-marshalled in the 1690s for "behaviour unbecoming of an officer" and dishonourably discharged. At the outbreak of the Great Northern War in 1700, Olof was reinstated in the artillery although he eventually died of plague in Arenburg in 1710 (an island fortress outside Riga).
