Anders Campbell was the son of James Campbell of Alseda and Åby gård, and grandson of the Scottish born officer, Major Carl Campbell [SSNE 2016]. Along with his brother Carl Gustaf, Anders served at the Court of Karl X in April 1658. He thereafter served as a muskateer in Köningsmarcks regiment in Holland in 1671. He was quartered with Douglas's Cavalry Regiment while there. On his return to Sweden he served first as a corporal in the Drabanterna. He then became a lieutenant in the Småland's cavalry regiment. He appears on the regimental pay list for 1702 as ryttare, and on the pay list again for 1706, although he was pensioned out of service in July 1704. On 5 November 1683, Anders received confirmation of his lifetime receipt of Alseda. Campbell died in Fliseryd on 14/04/1708. He had been married Margaretha Ulfsax and Corporal Anders Campbell of the Småland regiment was probably their son.
