Jost or George Mackenzie joined the Akershus regiment on the 1 May 1644 as the regiment's lieutenant colonel. Hannibal Sehested sent him a letter on 4 July 1645 giving him, with Barclay and Sinclair, orders regarding the 4 Akershus companies. In September 1645 he took over command of the regiment, in the absence of Colonel Reuchwein. He left service in September 1645 and died only months later on the 23rd of December 1645. He was the father of Ensign Jacob Mackenzie [SSNE 8] who served in Judelsbach's Cavalry 1644-1645. Jost's wife was called Margaret, and on 27 July 1656 King Frederik III of Denmark-Norway approved an annual payment of 50 Rigsdaler to her.
