James Waughope, aka "Wackub Jacub", served in the Danish army, Mackay's Regiment, in 1629. In 1630 he went to Russia from Sweden with Alexander Leslie. In 1632 he fell ill and made a will in Moscow, where he wished to be buried, in favour of his wife Ellen Cragg and son Colin, with Colonel Matheson as executor. His belongings included 145 roubles, 10 gold ducats, some jewellry, a Scots cloak and 3 barrels of "aquavytey".G.
