Andrew Arbuthnot was a Scotsman who worked in the Baltic. He was possibly a merchant trading in Poland and Russia. P. Gordon wrote an epitaph for him: "Scotia me genuit tenuitque Polonia quondam, Russia nunc requiem praebet. Amice, vale"
