Martin Neal was a falconer in the service of King James VI and I who was authorised to catch falcons in Iceland for James' use on 19/5/1624 for an unspecified annual toll. Neal's authorisation was renewed for 13 years on 11/7/1627 when he was in King Charles I's serviceNorske Rigsregistranter, vol.5 (1874), pp. 396, 610; T.
