ANNAN, ALEXANDER [SSNE 153]
Text source
Captain Alexander Annan served King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway during the Danish involvement in the Thirty Years' War against the Holy Roman Empire, but was dismissed at his own request on 19/10/1627. He later commanded a company in colonel Donald Mackay's [SSNE 93] regiment in 1628, and after being wounded at Stralsund he returned to Scotland. It was possibly he who was recorded in James Ramsay's [SSNE 3315] regiment in the Swedish army being ordered to take the fortresses at the river Main as Aschaffenburg (with the name Hanan).
