Born in Orkney, Albert Lutar traded at Aalborg's Whitsun fair in 1583 and lived in Hamburg by 1591. He then moved to Viborg by 1595 where he was a burgess. However, he was also mentioned in 1595 as burgess at Aalborg and admitted to the town's Corpus Christi guild.
