Richard Bradshaw served as the resident in northern Germany for the English Parliament between 1650-1657 based variously in Hamburg and Bremen. From there he undertook missions to Denmark and Courland while stationed at Hamburg as a representative of the English Commonwealth. Bradshaw's mission to Courland was actually part of a mission to Russia, but the Russians refused his entry since they refused to deal with regicides. there are 3 letters dated Riga in 1657 and one dated Hamburg 1658 from Bradshaw to King Karl X Gustav of Sweden.
