Hans Lyall was a son of Alexander Lyall of Elsinore. He studied abroad at Basel (1562-3), Siena (1563), Wittenberg (1568) and Leipzig (1570). Lyall married Catharina Danqvardsdatter (Tancredsdatter) who was dead by 1/8/1610 when her son Tancred set up a tomstone for her in the church of the Holy Ghost at Copenhagen. Lyall's children included Alexander, Helene (Ellen) (who both were buried in the cathedral of Roskilde, probably in 1582) and Tancred.
