Major James Douglas served in the Danish-Norwegian army between 1627-1628. He was probably James Douglas of Mouswold, [2nd son of James Douglas of Drumlanrig], who was knighted on 1 November 1627 and noted in Balfour Paul's peerage as being referred to with the title of 'Sir James' while recruiting troops for foreign service "in Germany" in that year.
