Major James Douglas served in the Danish-Norwegian army between 1627-1628. He was probably James Douglas of Mouswold, [2nd son of James Douglas of Drumlanrig], who was knighted on 1 November 1627 and noted in Balfour Paul's peerage as being referred to with the title of 'Sir James' while recruiting troops for foreign service "in Germany" in that year.See Sir James Balfour Paul, The Scots Peerage (8 vols., 1904-1911), VII, p.133; G.
