David Tonnies was listed as a major in the Danish army, arriving in 1626. Misidentified initially in this database as a British officer, Tonnies was in fact born in Zerbst [principality of Anhalt] and became general-major in the Danish Army and commander of Goettingen (Lower Saxon Circle), which was besieged and then bombarded since 15.8.1626 until 18.8.1626 by the ligistic troops under the command of Anholt and Tilly. After an accord was reached, Tonnies left the town with his troops.G. Lind, Danish Data Archive 1573; Dietrich DENECKE/Helga-Maria KÜHN, (eds.), Göttingen - Geschichte einer Universitätsstadt.
