JACK, HANS [SSNE 1111]

Born about 1625-6, Hans Jack was the son of Captain Albert Jack and consort Else Jorgensdatter. Jack married Katrine Meieren (who was dead by May 1651), and with her had Maria Lisbet, c.1647 (who's guardian was David Melvin [SSNE 1159]) and Anna Juliana who died as a child. Jack became a Surgeon and later, in May 1651 when the estate was assessed, could give nothing to his children, but promised them a share in his own maternal inheritance. Jack and his family and lived at his mother's house. Jack's second wife Anne Sophie Carmichael had been born in Courland. He probably met her when he entered the service of the Prince of Courland, though details of this service are sketchy. He returned to Elsinore where he died, leaving a widow and his daughter Maria (or Maren) Lisbet [SSNE 6229]; the net assets of the estate were 30 daler 21/10/1656.
