David Hansen was admitted a burgess in Elsinore in 1603. He paid taxes in 1st fjerding 1607, 1617, 1628. His widow Maren paid taxes in 4th fjerding in 1637. He was probably a merchant and imported English beer and Spanish wine in 1596, sent tallow and apples to Copenhagen 2/10/1628. Member of jury in a witchcraft trial 1626. He was also among the 24 men who elected representatives to the diet of 1627 and was several times among the - generally 24 - representatives of the burgesses outside the council (10/10, 13/10/1627, 3/1/1629). Mentioned in the taxlists of 1607 and 1617 as Wegeor Weiger which could mean that he was in charge of the weighhouseT. Riis, Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot (Odense, 1988), II, p.217.
