Storing your belongings in University accommodation

Undergraduate students

If your accommodation contract covers the Christmas and intersemester break, you retain access to the hall and your room during this time. You do not have to empty your room and you can access your accommodation at any time. 

We would recommend that you dispose of any rubbish and perishable items in the fridge if you are leaving the accommodation during this time.

• Powell Hall

If your accommodation contract does not include the Christmas and intersemester break, you must move out of the accommodation and return your key. You do not have to empty your room but you cannot access your accommodation during this time.

• John Burnet Hall
• McIntosh Hall
• St Regulus Hall
• St Salvator's Hall
• University Hall
• Andrew Melville Hall
• Gannochy House

All accommodation contracts include the spring vacation and you can stay in your room and access your belongings.

During the summer vacation, University accommodation is maintained or used for conferences and other bookings. This means storage is unavailable for students. Instead, you can use a storage company that advertises within the accommodations. 

In some halls there is limited storage for cases or boxes during the semester, please see the residence staff for storage location and availability.

Postgraduate students

All contracts include the Christmas and intersemester break and spring vacation, you retain access to the hall and your room during this time.

You do not have to empty your room and you can access your accommodation at any time. We would recommend that you dispose of any rubbish and perishable items in the fridge if you are leaving the accommodation during this time.

In most cases your accommodation contract includes the summer vacation and you maintain access to your room.
